For the past three years, I’ve been grinding non-stop, chasing dreams, chasing perfection. Good grades, building my resume, and landing that first job experience. I put so much pressure on myself. And I’m sure you’ve been there too.
Now, don’t get me wrong, chasing goals isn’t bad. We all want success, right? But eventually, you hit a wall and ask yourself: “What now? Where’s the drive? The motivation?”
When things don’t go your way, suddenly the world feels against you. Anxiety creeps in, and sometimes, depression too. I’m right there with you and every day I’m learning how to deal with it better.
One thing that inspired me to keep going, even when it felt tough, was seeking God more, really trusting Him. That shift made all the difference.
Here’s the truth: The problem isn’t chasing your dreams. It’s how you’re chasing them.
For the longest time, I told myself, “I have to be a nurse.” But then someone asked me, “Wouldn’t it be better to say, ‘I choose to be a nurse’?” That question shook me. It made me realize I was putting unnecessary pressure on myself.
Now, instead, I say, “I choose to be a nurse.” It’s my choice, my dream and that mindset change has been everything.
But here’s the kicker, all that grinding made me shut down socially. I stopped going out, experiencing life, and honestly, I wasn’t giving God the attention He deserves. Then I heard Matthew 6:33 in church:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
If I put as much energy chasing God as I do chasing my goals, everything I desire will come to me.
So now, I’m stepping back from the pressure. I’m choosing to seek God, find my people, and trust His plan.
And I want you to do the same.
Why Reflection Is Your Game Changer
Reflection is more than just a moment of pause. It’s the power move that lets you see what’s working and what’s not.
Without it, you’re stuck on autopilot, always busy, never intentional.
The Bible reminds us, “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). God wants you to slow down, check your heart, and find peace.
Are You Wasting Time Without Even Knowing It?
Ask yourself:
- Are you constantly busy but feel stuck?
- Do you end your day feeling drained and empty?
- Are you neglecting your own needs and relationships?
- Are you saying yes to everything except to yourself?
If you nodded yes, it’s time to stop and reflect.
How to Reflect and Take Back Control
Reflection isn’t complicated. Start small:
- Set aside quiet time. Even 10 minutes can shift your whole day.
- Ask yourself real questions:
- What truly matters to me?
- What drains my energy, and what fuels me?
- How am I caring for my mind, body, and spirit?
- Write it down. Journaling helps you process and prioritize.
- Pray or meditate. Invite God in for guidance and strength
Finding Balance That Actually Works
Balance isn’t some perfect equation. It’s personal.
For me now, it means rest, faith, connection, and growth, not just grinding 24/7.
Here’s what you can try:
- Rest without guilt.
- Set clear boundaries to protect your peace.
- Celebrate small wins.
- Remember, progress beats perfection every time.
Your Next Move💭
Reflection is the first step toward freedom. So take a deep breath, slow down, and ask yourself:
What’s one small change I can make today to stop wasting time and start living with purpose?

I used to think being constantly busy meant I was doing something right. But the burnout caught up fast. Slowing down and actually reflecting changed everything. Still learning, but I’m grateful for the growth.🙏

Sometimes God has to slow us down so we don’t miss what He’s trying to teach us. Your growth is evidence of His grace. Keep trusting the process. 🙏🏽✨
